On the whole process of controlling engineering cost,once the project had made investment decisions, design stage will be one of the most improtant step.At present,the development of structure optimiza- tion design becomes an important factor of the structural design.In the paper,we theoretical analysised the macro and micro factors which impact engineering cost,and pointed out the main ways of reinforced concrete buildings structural optimization design . Analysised the principles of structures election, and give some parameters about project cost. Calculated out this parameters'effects on engineering cost in combination with engineering practice, reflects the influence degree of the construction cost directly.Controlling engineering cost is not blindly reduce the structure security rating or simply reduce consumption of steel and concrete by changing the design which is more conservative,but optimize the structure it can save cost ,not only retain the same security rating with original design ,but make the structure scheme more reasonably and operation more easy.In structure optimization design,the integrative conceptualdesign is especially important,and that is the measures and approaches of optimize design.So,designers need to have solid rationable and rich design experiences to combine technology organic with economy. In this paper,we proposed some optimization approaches,based on specific structure forms such as frame structure, shear wall structure, frame-shear wall structure and so on and combine with engineering example proved the practicality of this approaches by analysis.Foundation is also improtant part of engineering cost, foundation optimization design should comprehensively consider construction site's geological condition, water level,types of superstructure, using function, construction condition and so on we must make sure buildings not settlement or tilt excessive,to meet the normal use requirements then we can choose an economical and practical program. Floor system as the level of housing components, plays the role of supporting vertical load and horizontal load transfer.Normally, floor construction cost contain more than 30% of the total construction cost,for it's large and multi-layered, moreover, with the the number of layer growth , its proportion has gradually increased. In this paper we studied several kind of floor system's economic indicators with examples.At last we studied how to reduce steel consumption,analysised factors which affect the amount of steel,and summarized some project experiences which can save steel consumption.
