The giant magnetostrictive material is a new type of magneto(electro)mechanical energy conversion material.Due to its giant magnetostrictive strain,high power density,high electromechanical coupling coefficient ,high response speed and h?h force output, this new kind of functional material has been widely concerned in the field of microdisplacement actuator study by so many researchers in China and abroad, .Based on the basic property of giant magnetostrictive material,the paper goes deep into the research and explorement of giant magnetostrictive actuator and its control technique,establishes the application study foundation of the material.The giant magnetostrictive phenomenon and its form mechanism are analyzed.The basic property of giant magnetostrictive material is well understood and the driving system constitude of giant magnetostrictiv actuator is proposed.A giant magnetostrictive actuator is studied,designed and manufactured.Based on magnetic circuit design priciple,a driving coil to make a alternating magnetic circuit and permanent magnet to impress a bias magnetic field are studied.The load condition and microdisplacement pass mechanism are designed by spring distortion prieiple.The intelligent driving power supply is studied and manufactured. The controlable constant current power supply is developed on the basis of the principle of continuous regulating constant current power supply.Sigle-chip microcomputer monitoring and controling system is designed and system software is programmed to control the driving system of giant magnetostrictive actuator.The serial communication technique between driving system and computer is studied.Using mscommcontrol MSCOMM.OCX of Visual Basic to implement the serial communication,send data information between single-chip microcomputer and computer.The experimental study of giant magnetostrictive actuator driving system is carried on.The precision and stability of driving power supply are analyzed.The displacement characteristics of the actuator is attained by experimental method and thc control precision of the actuator is analyzed.
