With the speed-raising of railway and the marketing of the management, the load that the electric locomotive burdens increased annually. In order to guarantee the security of the locomotive, the overhaul must be transited from preventive maintenance to state maintenance, which can accelerate the speed and the quality of the locomotive overhaul and reduce the overhaul cost. The most important achievement is that the overhaul can be performed automatically and digitally and can be effectively competent for the record management of the overhaul data. Besides, it can set up a database about some central equipment's state parameters. Thus it can make effective control of the state of the locomotive. The auxiliary motor test-bed is one of the devices which can examinant and tests the auxiliary motor's general performances such as D.C engine, A.C engine and phase converter.In order to adapt well to the development of the overhaul with the locomotive, the article introduces a digital auxiliary motor test-bed based PLC and touch screen technology, being an updated product of routine manual switch and relay-controlled test-bed, it can accomplish the functions such as testing, checking and other manipulations to D.C engine, A.C engine and phase converter through HMI-touch screen. It is demanded that the test-bed can dynamically display the parameters of tested device and its malfunction states, store the results of the test automatically, and print some characters and graphs in real time. Besides, it should be provided with the many functions including multifarious testing records and malfunction information, automatic protection, presetting parameters, download and upload inreal time. Meanwhile, some intellectualized functions such as encryption techniques, manipulating and managing after register, memorizing the locomotive's name when repairing are added into the system, which will effectively improve the level of automation of for testing the auxiliary motor as well as the level of the producing, overhauling, and the management to the locomotive. The installation and experimentation on the site shows that the system is easily manipulated and in high reliability so it deserves for extending use.
