IEC61850 is an international standard for the seamless communication architecture in SAS. IEC61850 specifications represent the developing direction of the SAS communication architecture and bring the extensive concern of the domestic and international power industry. The main works of this article are as follows.This article analyses the background, basic ideas, and the content of IEC61850 standard series, including object-oriented modeling, substation configure language based XML, abstract communication service interface, etc. Then, the foreign and domestic progress about this series standard have summarized from foreign and domestic articles.The new requests to traditional SAS have been bring forward since the IEC61850 standard was published. The paper analyses some key parts and brings forward some new demand based on SAS application. Then, the works are arranged of these part aimed to meet standard defined.Modeling methods of SCADA have been put forward based on RTAP runtime environment of current technology conditions after the author masters the IEC61850 standards' kernel ideas. Combined with RTAP object-oriented characteristic, the article brings forward a perfect methods and step to model the SCADA. . This model can meet the demands of real-time supervision and control to substation devices. The modeling process is also a reflection to standard's thinking, such as object oriented, flexible configuration of logical node, common data class and the dynamic constitute of logical node template.After the static model structure has been put forward, two kinds of means to build model are presented. One method is to parse SCL by system configration. Anthor matched is to dynamic build by the MMS services supported by IED.The paper researches two methods separately. A series of building model tools based on SCL have been developed following the structure above. This is a standards' idea reflection of modeling from a single configure file. As the second method, the modules, which finished the dynamic modeling process, are established. Then the paper discusses the data and information flowing between these modules and the dynamic modeling process. In this course, the key is the devices manage module's function and its data flowing. This is indispensable to realize the plug and playFurthermore, a communication subsystem's original model has been put forward based on the IEC61850 standards' kernel ideas. Then, the paper discusses the structure of the key module: communication service manager and explains the key technology characteristics. Finally, the paper finishes the conversion from ACSM to a class object. Then, the article used the AX-S4 MMS to implement communication mapping to MMS. In this way, the difficult realizations of MMS convert to a simple OPC connection and configure process. It is a transitional measure, but it can contribute the IEC61850 standards' implement in our country.
