This paper generally introduces the concept, function, developing future of Distribution Automation System, especially the Feeder Automation System, and the background of this project as well. In the same time, how to design the Feed Terminal Unit, which is based on DSP chip TMS320F2812 made by TI Company, is described in detail. What is more, the method of designing, the component of hardware and the frame of software are introduced, so do some circuit diagrams and software codes.This Feed Terminal Unit not only possesses such excellence as simple components and good anti-jamming ability, but also can take the responsibility of sampling and analyzing the data gotten from Power system, really monitor the faults of phase to phase and signal phase to earth, reliably record the fault process, accurately select fault line, and quickly insulate the fault line, that is, it meets the whole function of SCADA. In the same time, the device can get small current accurately by its particular circuit, select the fault line and fault part, communicate with Distribution Station by SCI on 101 protocol or CAN Bus. All the designing method and application of all above are described in this paper.In addition, it particularly describes how to design the hardware of CAN Bus based on TMS320F2812, how to design the software of CAN Bus according to CAN protocol and CANopen protocol, and how to found the Feeder Automation System with Distribution Station. Well, an example of its application is given in the end.
