Research, Based On The Pearl River Estuary Comprehensive Evaluation Of Vessel Traffic In The Vts

Pearl River situated in south China, it is a good navigable waters for shipping. With the developing of the shipping industry, the ship which steam in pearl river is getting larger and higher speed, and the waters is getting more and more congested. Recently, the public pay much more attention to the safety of shipping and environment protection in Pearl River, and how to protect the safety of shipping, maintain the clean of waters in this important area is an essential work for us to consider.For reducing marine accident, ensuring safe traffic, upgrading transport effective and protecting from environment pollution, a new traffic service system -Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) was established all over the world by the authority concerned.In this paper, the author presented a new way to have a comprehensive traffic assessment in Pearl River combined VTS and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), studied how to use VTS to make a actual traffic investigation in Pearl River Waters and use AHP to do the vessel traffic assessment. In this way, we can provide a true assessment of Pearl River Waters for the administration authority to make a good decision to improve the vessel traffic in this area and make the Pearl River Waters more safety and more cleaner.
