The paper researched on the globoidal indexing cam by applying the theory of engagement in space and the method of rotary coordinate transformation, presented the equations of various types of parameters of the cam profiles, and analyzed the meshing characteristic.The paper focused on the parameters design and simulation for globoidal indexing cam mechanisms and established the parameters design system based on VC++ Object-Oriented method and Pro/E secondary development, which can guide user to complete the data input with the friendly interface. It made synthesis of the mechanism and generation of the cam profile automatic. Then the assembly model was built under the circumstance of Pro/ENGINEER directly. And meanwhile the movement of the mechanism was simulated by using the Pro/Mechanism module of Pro/ENGINEER.The study of motion interference and properties base on the simulation under the circumstance of Pro/ENGINEER were made so that we can check whether the mechanism mesh properly or not. We can return to modify in time.The paper provided an visible software operation platform for the analysis and design of globoidal indexing cam which is proximate, easy to operate and correct, and a new method for the mechanism's deep research and extensive use.
