Equipment maintenance is one of the important stages in civil aviation lifecycle. Traditional paper-based technical information on the Civil Aviation equipment maintenance is inefficient, having the problem in storage, update and use. Linear-paged electronic manual have partially solved the problems, but still have the deficiency, such as large information redundant, update inconsistency, lack of interaction, which cause waste of resources and inefficient maintenance.Therefore, it is needed to make equipment maintenance technical information systemicly and establish digital technical manual. This paper starts from discussing the requirement of civil aviation digital integrated protection attaching with the research of IETM technique and specification. Then we design an IETM system model for civil aviation equipment maintenance to improve the maintenance quality and promote maintenance procedure. This paper mainly studies the IETM system model, including technical information data model, methods of technical information storage, management and publication. At the end of the paper, we implement a fault isolation manual based on IETM system to validate the prototype system. The mainly work and conclusion of this paper include:(1) Discussed the characteristics of technical manual of civil aviation equipment maintenance, to analyse the requirement of technical manual system.(2) Analysed the technical characteristics and efficiency of IETM and the need of standardization of civil aviation IETM.(3) According to analyzing S1000D and information flow of IETM, we establish a hierarchical and modular IETM system model. We design the data model of the system, which organizes the technical information in form of data module and depicts the information with XML format. It can solve the requirements of large and diverse information. Besides, we design the methods of storage, management and publication of the system.(4)Combined with the fault isolation flow of civil aviation to implement a case of fault isolation manual based on IETM system and validate practicability of our work.The research in this paper provides an implementation for the integrated, digital, automated and intelligent civil aviation equipment maintenance. It focuses on reducing costs and promoting efficiency for the civil aviation equipment maintenance.
