This paper introduced the bus structure and the principle of Bus Rapid (BRT) System, including the articulation systems and the whole vehicle, the principle of the finite element analysis method(FEA), the application and trend of the FEA method and FEA software ANSYS. Using the FEA software ANSYS, made finite element analysis for the LCK6180G bus, which is designed by Zhongtong Bus Holding Co., Ltd.The paper introduced the process of setting up the FEA model of t the articulation systems and he whole vehicle in details. Using the FEA software ANSYS, through reasonable simplification, established the Finite Element Model of the articulation systems and the whole vehicle. The FEA analysis of the articulation systems under design loads were done firstly The static analysis was finished under five typical conditions according to the design, the using, and the testing conditions, such as running with the uniform velocity, left side torsion, emergent braking, pulling with the maximum power, right turning and overturning. The distributing of stress and displacement of the structure had been gotten on taking use of FEA software ANSYS, and the weak points of the structure had been found. Furthermore, the dynamic characteristic of the body frame and the articulation system had been analyzed with the modal analysis technique in order to get the information of the frame. Twenty natural frequencies had been calculated and low-order vibration shape of the bus frame was studied. In the last, the condition of the bus running across the washboard road was simulated, and the fatigue analysis of the whole bus was finished.The calculating results prove that the finite element model established in the paper is rational, and the distributing of stress and displacement of the structure were helpful for the evaluating and the following design improving works.
