Frame is one of the key components of Underground Dump Truck (UDT). It plays a very important part in tansmiting dump truck load to drive axles, and in undetaking the weights of components as well as in bearing the various complex loads from transportation tunnel road in underground mines. It produces a great influence on the safety, comfort feature, Power performance, economy as well as control performance of UDTs. Especially for UDTs used in underground mines, the vehicle performance is imflunced by the strenth and rigidity of their bodies because the road of underground mines is more complex than the road of open-air.This paper has used the body of certain model UDT as an example, and has studied its static perfornance emphatically with the related theories of modern design methods. The main contents of this dissertation are as follows.1,The research development of vehicle body at home and abroad has been first introduced, and the applications of Finite Element Method (FEM) on vehicle body at home and outside has been fully summaried.2,The visual three-dimensional (3-D) digital Virtual Prototype of certain model UDT's body was modeled under the Solidworks software environment. Then the FEM analysis model of its former and rear bodies as well as all body have been builted. 3,The static characteristics of vehicle body have been simulated under the four typical conditions of the uniform motion, rear tire lift, front tire lift and brake. And the simulation results have established the foundation for the next weight-lighting research of vehicle body.4,The inadequacies was existed according to analysis of static characteristics of the frame. The constructure of the frame of UDT is optimized based on the finite element model with COSMOSWorks finite element analysis tool. Preliminary simulation results show that the intensity of the frame is still below the strength of the material limit. Based on this study, the capacity of anti-vibration and the overall performance of the frame are improved. The stress level of the frame reduced as much as 23.64% after the optimization of the frame structure.5,The vibration characteristics of the frame was studied according to the results of modal analysis. The results show that the frame's natural frequency avoid the scope of the natural frequency.6,The intensity and modal characteristics of the optimized frame is studied. The results show that the intensity of the frame is still below the strength of the material limit. Based on this study, the capacity of anti-vibration and the overall performance of the frame are improved.7,Experimental research on the frame was carried out in order to verify the correctness of simulation results. The experimental results and simulation results match well. It proved that the finite element models of the frame is correct...
