Study On Urban Design Of Historical Area Of Jining Ancient Cancal

Nowadays, urban waterfront exploitation becomes a highlight of city construction in the world. From 1960's. there have already had plenty of successful development of urban waterfront in Europe and America. Compared to these, China has just made a start in the research. Jining is a celebrated canal city in China. The urban development is vitally related with the historical transition of ancient canal. The ancient canal renewal would create a large amount of general benefit of society, economy, and environment to Jining. Now the regulation project of the ancient canal is being constructed rapidly in Jining and has made some achievement. The purpose of the research is to advance a relatively systematic method and preserve the history and cultural tradition of the city through the research on renewal and design of urban waterfront in Jining ancient canal. Choosing Jining ancient canal as the point to start, the paper introduces the research content, methods, background and framework, illustrates the related concepts and the connotation in the first. Secondly the paper provides theoretic supports for urban waterfront through the case analysis of urban waterfront's planning and constructing at home and abroad. Through the way of literature stud}', research and investigation, comparative study, the paper discusses the historical transition of Jining ancient canal and urban development. The paper focuses on urban waterfront in Jining ancient canal, studies on the current situation, investigates the preservation situation of historical buildings along the ancient canal, and summarizes the successful methods and problems through the regulation projects of the ancient canal. In the end, the paper mainly advances a relatively systematic method about designing urban waterfront from four factors, for urban designing, architecture designing, landscape designing and preservation for historical buildings, receiving the research achievement. The conclusion part summarizes the dissertation; the epilogue concludes with an emphasis that the urban development of Jining and the ancient canal full of opportunity and challenge.
