In the past, the steel frame beam-column joints were watched as pinned connections or rigid connections. But after the Northbridge earthquake in United States and the Kobe earthquake in Japan, people's views on the performance of beam-column joints have changed, the beam-column joints were classified as the sub-rigid connection, semi-rigid connection and articulated connection. Semi-rigid connection has become one of the hotspots of beam-column joints because of its good seismic performance. The Wenchuan earthquake disaster can be seen, if the building destroyed is the steel construction of good ductility and energy dissipation, it will greatly reduce the loss the damage caused. This paper studies the seismic behavior of extended end-plate semi-rigid connections of steel frame structure. The main contents of the research are as follows:Firstly, through analysis of disaster of the Wenchuan earthquake, this paper suggested researching a structure of good seismic performance used in seismic areas. At the same time, the compositions and types of end-plate connections as well as its research status and shortcomings at home and abroad were introduced. The purpose of this study that continuing to study the influence on the hysteretic properties of the joints of end-plate thickness, end-plate stiffener thickness and end-plate stiffener form unanalyzed before based on existing research was proposed. Secondly, several typical models of M-θunder the single loading and hysteretic model under cyclic loading of the semi-rigid connections as well as the basic theory of FEM and ANSYS model calculation were introduced. Then the validity of the finite element model was validated by literature experiment. Finally, the ANSYS program was used upon seven series extended end-plate connection specimens under single loading and cyclic loading. The single loading curves and the hysteretic curves of extended end-plate connections in the change of the end plate thickness, end-plate stiffener thickness, end-plate stiffeners and other parameters were studied. The major results of finite element analysis are as follows:The end-plate thickness has more influence on the connectivity. The end-plate stiffener thickness has little effect on the connectivity. JJLXS2-63.4°-100-200 form of end plate stiffener is better than other forms from the integrated perspective. The conclusion can be used as seismic design reference of extended end plate connections of steel structure.
