Sanjiang Plain is an important commercial grain base in china, and also is one of areas with concentrated distribution of global typical swamp wetland. It has important biological diversities of wetlands and major function with regulating river floods. Now it has been set as one of the first ten national class ecosystem function sanctuary. The paper aims to study the regional water resources characteristics and sustainable development evaluation. It serves as basis for sustainable development and reasonable exploitation of water resources in Sanjiang Plain. It is very significant for our grain production safety strategy and sustainable development of regional ecological environment construction and economic society.This paper on the subject of water resources sustainable use analyzes the theory of sustainable use of water resources, discusses the conditions such as geography, geology, soil and climate in the research area and studies the current situation and problems about development and utilization of groundwater resources in the research area. In the research area, the analysis of satisfaction with supply and demand balance of water resources is made; Evaluation index system of water resources for sustainable use in Sanjiang Plain is set up taking into account well about its own characteristics and influence factors; Two-dimensional comparison analysis is used to identify the weight of various indicators and fuzzy pattern recognition and assessment model is established; It is proved that evaluate results about sustainable development potentiality of water resources in six partitions of Sanjiang Plain are better. Also reasonable measures are offered to realize the sustainable use of local water resources. It provides decision and reference for future reasonable use and plan of water resources.
