This paper studied the effect of three prescription which were p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+BR 0.05 mg·L-1, p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+CPPU 10 mg·L-1 and p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+GA3 25 mg·L-1 on fruit development and quality of tomato which was named"Indian"and planted in greenhouse and open field. These plant growth regulators were smeared on the flower stalk in florescence. The objective is to select the best prescription and provide a theoretical basis for practical applications. The results showed that:(1) The 3 prescriptions could promote tomato fruit development, prescription p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+BR 0.05 mg·L-1 had the highest rate of development. The reason was that the special material of prescription p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+BR 0.05 mg·L-1 could coordinate tomato development and promote accumulation of organic compounds. The promotion of every prescription represented at the early stage of fruit development. Compared with greenhouse culture, the open field culture was better.(2) To fresh water prescription, the others all postponed the process of fruit maturation, and prescription"p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+CPPU 10 mg·L-1"had the longest fruit maturation period. The fruit maturation period of greenhouse culture was longer than that of open field culture, because the temperature of greenhouse was lower in fruit development period by any possibility.(3) No significant effect was existed on carbohydrate composition and content and activities of related enzymes during the early and middle stage of fruit development in every prescription. However, the content of fructose and glucose was significantly increased, and the activity of invertase was strengthened in maturation. Prescription p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+BR 0.05 mg·L-1 and p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+CPPU 10 mg·L-1 were better. During the whole period of fruit development, the content of fructose and glucose were gradually increasing, whereas the content of sucrose was gradually reducing, this phenomenon showed that tomato fruit mostly accumulated fructose and glucose during development.(4) The ratio of stiff fruit reduced by plant growth regulator prescription, but the ratio of cavity fruit increased especially in greenhouse culture, high concentration might lead to this phenomenon. (5) The effect of prescription p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+BR 0.05 mg·L-1 and p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+GA3 25 mg·L-1 on single fruit weight and yield were better than prescription p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+CPPU 10 mg·L-1.(6) There was no significant influence on the hardness, the content of lycopene and the organic acid of tomato fruit, but the content of soluble solid, vitamin C, soluble sugar and brix-acid ratio of tomato fruit increased. Compared with the greenhouse culture, the tomato which was planted in open field had higher soluble solid, vitamin C and soluble sugar content. The prescription p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+BR 0.05 mg·L-1 was the best.In summary, the general effect of prescription p-CPA 35 mg·L-1+BR 0.05 mg·L-1 was best in the three prescriptions.
