The two main themes of the new curriculum are students'development and teachers' development. Teachers'self-development is the source of strength in education, the key to success of education reform lies in the teachers and the professional development of teachers. With the developing and deepening of the new curriculum reform, many problems that schools have been facing can not simply rely on the professional research staff to solve; we need active participation and exploration of the teachers who are in practical teaching. The new curriculum reform not only brings unprecedented challenges to the teachers, but also brings about a lot of development opportunities.To become "a thoughtful history teacher" is the core of professional development of a middle school history teacher. The new curriculum reform is a large-scale educational innovation; we need completely new educational philosophy and educational practice, in a sense which can be said to be an education revolution of thoughts. The crux problems of the new curriculum reform are nothing more than "what to learn" and "how to learn", the key to curriculum reform are what kind of thinking a teacher adopts to guide and command his own teaching; realizing the reason why to do that and what to achieve. The new curriculum puts forward higher requirements for the teachers'literacy; teachers'teaching ideas, teaching behaviors and teaching methods must be fundamentally changed; teachers must be equipped with educational ideology, educational intelligence, educational character and educational spirit; we must be thoughtful teachers.It is necessary for a thoughtful history teacher to grasp and understand profoundly the educational philosophy connected with the spirit of the times; to grasp scientifically and rightly educational thought of history which bases on nurturing spirit; to understand what is the nature of history education and what is the value of history education as a subject and other basic issues; to update historical concepts to understand and grasp the new trend of historical research.To become "a thoughtful history teacher" can not be separated from extensive reading and self-reflection. Extensive reading and careful chewing is a necessary condition for being a thoughtful teacher. The process of reading is a process to carry out exchanges with the world, from a narrow process to a broad process. Deep exploration and self-reflection is the main way to become a thoughtful history teacher. At the same time only when "teaching" process is a process of a teacher's exploration is it the true educational process with sense. Without development of teacher's learning and reflection, there would be no development of students.The ultimate goal of teachers'professional development is the development of students; the value of teacher's ideas lies in giving and prompting of science. An important task of history education is to teach students to learn to think from history, to produce intelligence, to generate a correct outlook on life and values, which determines that "thinking" should be the soul that runs through history classroom. It is not enough for history teachers only to have ideas, it is more important for them to brighten the classroom up with ideas; so that the history classroom is always full of rich colors of thinking, and strive to build a "critical-thinking class," a classroom full of ideas is to let students really come into the history, into the true history.
