| This research is a detailed report to solve the problems that appear in English homework assigning for freshmen in junior middle school. I always find the same situation when I teach freshmen every term. At the beginning of a term, nearly all the students can finish their homework carefully. Little by little, some of them lose interest in English and English homework. They always copy other's homework, and even they refuse doing homework. The teachers design homework to review and consolidate the knowledge that learned during the class. This kind of homework has great relationship with teaching and it can also improve the effect of classroom teaching. As a new course for freshmen, English is fresh but strange. It means that homework is a very important part in English teaching besides the normal classroom teaching. Good homework has great help for English teaching. So English teachers of Grade One need pay more attention to the homework assignment.In order to find good ideas to research this topic, I preferred to a lot of works and received information and inspiration from some famous theories. In the classroom, students are not passive recipients but the hosts of learning, at the same time, the teacher can only be a instructor or a tutor. The teacher should provide good learning atmosphere. He/she should also design and organize learning activities.Homework couldn't be the same all the time and students should have chance to assign and choose homework. Therefore, I designed an interview and two questionnaires to get the feedback in the homework assignment from students. This research lasted several months in my two classes. In this period, we also used our own book-Go For it. By doing this research, I will change the attitude to the homework and reform the way of assigning homework little by little. I also hope that this research can help other English teachers. |
