This study is based on the actual teaching experiences of English classes in a junior high school.Middle school students’ English levels are so different. In order to get every student improved, teachers must employ different teaching methods for different students and respect their individual differences when designing English homework.If teachers only consider the teaching contents and tasks, they will arrange the same homework. If teachers require students to hand in their homework at the same time, it will be so inflexible that many students will not finish their homework on time. This will affect students’study and confidence, the result is contrary to the current philosophy of education. In order to adapt New Curriculum Reform, the author starts to make a research. It is based on constructivism and it includes three parts:source and development of constructivism, learning views of constructivism, teaching views of constructivism. At last, the author introduces the study of application of constructivism in English Homework.In this paper, the author first introduces the problem and the significance of this study. And then, she makes the generality of narrative literature section, where the author puts forward her own idea:English homework should contain selective English portionThe purpose is to increase students’ enthusiasm in English learning and improve their English level. The third part of the article is’Research Design’, which includes six parts and also works as the body part of the whole paper. In Chapter Four, the author makes some data analyses and discussions of several questionnaires and two tests. In the last part of this thesis, the author draws a conclusion. Through the research, the author gets some major findings and implications.By analyzing the results of English tests, the author draws the conclusion that the selective homework can change students’attitudes towards homework. It is to say that it can make most students take an active part in doing homework and improve their work enthusiasm and quality. Thereby selective homework can improve the students’ learning ability and effect in students’ learning performance in junior middle school.
