As a result of the changes emerging in current ideological and political education environment in the universities of our country, and the new characteristics and problems appearing among the college students, whether the ideological and political education adapts to the need of contemporary society and students'development and whether its effectiveness can be fully reflected, is not only a prominent practical issue without any doubt, but also an important theoretical task on which the experts in the academic field are trying to carry out deep researches.Based on the former study on the effectiveness of the ideological and political education, this paper aims at further exploring the system and method to evaluate the effectiveness of the ideological and political education. According to the empirical studies, this paper has assessed the political and ideological qualities to test the effectiveness of the ideological and political education by sampling the graduates in 2008 in Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In this article, there are five factors being chosen to be the index of this evaluation system, namely, "political belief", "basic morality", "values and outlook on life," "social responsibility" and "comprehensive ability and quality", so as to build up a valid assessment model for the effectiveness of the ideological and political education in university. Each evaluation index is assigned a weight, hoping to make a analysis and calculations of the ideological and political education of the graduates through the AHP analysis method on the basis of the sample data so as to measure the overall score of the effectiveness of the ideological and political education of different departments and disciplines. Through the calculation, summary and analysis of the survey data, as well as the verification of the sampling, the paper has developed a conclusion that the effectiveness of ideological and political education can be fairly attained. After an analysis on the five factors, education providers, education methods, education contents, education environment and the extent of students'self-education, relative affecting factors of ideological and political education among college students could be approached. Finally it is hoped that by perfecting and improving the three aspects, constructing the atmosphere of education from all people, exerting the main effect of ideological and political education and building up a favorable environment for ideological and political education, the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of ideological and political education could be realized.
