A Study On The Influence Of Foreign Trade Commodity Structure And Industrial Structure In Jiangsu

International trade plays an important role in national economy. Especially with the further acceleration of economic globalization, Jiangsu's economy will become increasingly integrated into the overall pattern of the world economy, the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure must also be achieved in the course of further opening up. Therefore, it's significant for the industrial upgrading of Jiangs to study the mechanism and influence of international trade to the upgrading of the industrial structure.This dissertation studies the way and mechanism of the international trade to industrial structure and the influence of classified commodities on Jiangsu's industrial structure. Firstly, according to the theory of international trade and industrial development, this paper analyzes the basis and mechanism of international trade on the industrial upgrading, and then summarizes the law about the industry evolution. Furthermore, it uses quantitative analysis to analyse the tendency and main characteristics of the change in international trade structure and industrial structure in Jiangsu fom1993 to 2007 and finds that structural changes in exports, especially the fast growing of the capital and technology-intensive exports , have vigorously promoted the industrial structure changes in Jiangsu , while the imported capital and technology-intensive goods such as the high-tech products also effectively promoted the technical level. Secondly, this paper did OLS estimate by semi-logarithmic regression function. and analysed the influence of commodity structures of the import and export on industrial structure in Jiangsu from 1993 to 2007.. Therefore this paper comes to the conclusion that resource-intensive exports have an active influence to the increasing proportion of primary industry, and it has not significantly affected the import and export of secondary and tertiary industries, indicating that its industrial chain is short and duesn't have a deep connection with other industries. At the same time, with the increase of population, the proportion of primary industry declined, reflecting the labor force in the primary industry has outflowed to the other industry. The changes of the import and export of labor-intensive products in Jiangsu has a positive effect to industrial structure, especially to the growth of the secondary industry, which is related to the characteristic of "importing products for exporting", as well as a strong comparative advantage of the export of such products in the international market. The import of capital and technology-intensive products have a negative impact on the proportion of the primary industry, which indicates that the primary industry does not make full use of the imports of machinery and equipments to improve its technological level. The import and export of capital and technology-intensive products in Jiangsu has promoted the growth of the secondary industry, reflecting the import and export of such products will help improve the level of production technology in Jiangsu and exporting commodity structure, optimize the configuration of resources among industries to accelerate industrial upgrading. Finally, based on the theoretical analysis and empirical analysis, this thesis puts forward countermeasures to upgrade the industrial strcture.
