Cost Efficiency Of China's Pig Herd Sizes

Modern agricultural industrial system of animal husbandry is an important part of the level of development of animal husbandry is a measure of a country and an important symbol of agricultural modernization. The pork production and consumption determined by the level of the pig farming industry leading position in Animal Husbandry. Pig breeding industry is actively developing a reasonable surplus food into people's living standards continued to improve and increase income of the farmers an effective way, while the scale pig farming and pig farming industry specialization is the inevitable choice.In this paper, the scale of economic theory and production function theory, using qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis methods to study the evaluation of the 19 provinces of China raising households of different sizes (retail, small-scale, medium scale and large) cost efficiency, allocative efficiency and scale efficiency of the stage. Study found that:1) household backyard production costs higher than the scale of pig raising costs. Scale reared free-range pigs than the cost of material costs, the retail cost of feeding was significantly higher than the scale of artificial feeding. Scale farmers benefit ratio of individual investors the benefits of feeding high. The most important reason is that piglets purchase price and concentrate feed costs account for a large proportion of material costs, while keeping the two parts of the scale is much higher than the retail cost of feeding.2) 2004-2008 in different provinces and pig rearing methods, especially the scale of the technical efficiency of farming generally high, the average was 0.958. Allocative efficiency in general lower than technical efficiency, which provinces scale pig fanning capacity factor allocation relatively large gap between the average of 0.68. Cost efficiency is relatively low, the average was 0.65.3) of breeding pigs in China, nearly 50% of the retail feeding is the optimal size of the province,40% of the province is easy to scale improvement stage; small-scale fanning, nearly 45% provinces in the optimal size,32.6% of the province is easy to improve the stage; in raising nearly 55% of the size of the provinces in the optimal size stage,36.8% of the province is easy to improve the state; nearly 55% of large-scale farming in the city optimal size,32.65% of the city is easy to improve the stage, that hog with our scale efficiency in terms of pure technical efficiency and good performance.Based on the findings, the author proposed hog nurturing appropriate model to accelerate the development of feed industry, the establishment of risk management, prevention mechanisms hog and pig actively guide the collaboration between the main producing areas the proposal.
