According to the present situation of rapid development of NGC, from using lean principles and methods, the article mainly had a study on how to implement lean production at the process including gearbox assembly, testing, and painting.Firstly, the article introduces the background and significance of topics, and then summarized the ideas and concepts, methods and tools that relating to lean production. Next, the paper analysed the status at the assembly department, and then discussed the assembly process optimization and lean design. Based on this, the paper had an empirical analysis of the lean production effect. Finally, it had a summarization on the whole article, from the single piece flow being established, from the parts putting into the assembly to production painting have a better change, the production line is optimization and the layout is perfection. The practice has proved that application of lean production organization modes for the production of large gearbox established with high quality, low cost and less inventory, quick delivery of production systems.In addition, this paper also discusses some difficulties and problems that existing in the process while we are implementing lean production, and studies the direction that we will work on at the next phase. The research production at NGC has been applied, up to now, NGC has been established the lean production system, and toward the lean enterprise goals.
