| Along with the popularizing of project management theory in China, more and more companies realized the benefit from project management. Therefore, Project Management Maturity has been a hot topic in project management area in recent years. At the same time, more and more companies have launched Project Management Office (PMO) to improve Project Management Maturity. Although the theories related to PMO and Project Management Maturity have been well developed at aboard, they are quite new in China. Therefore, PMO setup and the applications of Project Management Maturity are definitely poor currently. In addition, PMO and Project Management Maturity are independent theory and less study is focus on their correlation.Based on the analysis of Project Management Maturity core factors and positioning of PMO in Project Management Maturity, this paper brought up a general framework model regarding using PMO to improve Project Management Maturity. Furthermore, this paper analyzed the key factors of using PMO to improve Project Management Maturity, embodied detail work to form decomposed model regarding using PMO to improve Project Management Maturity. In addition, this paper focus on the analysis of basic PMO working approach, introduced the methodology of using basic PMO to improve Project Management Maturity in project management supporting and project management controlling. Finally, using an IT operation department as an example, this paper explained detail practice for applying using PMO to improve the department's Project Management Maturity. In order to demonstrate the benefit of setup PMO and develop more applications in improving Project Management Maturity, this paper also tried to analysis the correlation between PMO and Project Management Maturity.The model and methodologies presented in this paper are practical and has good value of reference. It can be further applied to other companies and organizations. |
