The third-party logistics is professional enterprise that provides system design, planning, management and execution of logistic service for customer, setting up the alliance relationship of companies. The subject paper has summarized the developing status of functional third-party logistics in China, and analyzed its main defects such as simple function, low integration capability and the information system out of time.Based on current domestic conditions and company characteristics, the subject paper has studied the operation model of functional third-party logistics; proposed the idea that the functional third-party logistics is innovative transform against the traditional model; and analyzed how to use third-party logistics to integrate the important sections of logistic operation.The innovative points of the paper: firstly, it proposed that the functional third-party enterprise in China should establish the fundamental logistic operation with enhanced value-added service, and adapt strategy to enlarge operation scale with strategic alliance for the purpose of fulfilling customer's requirement. Thirdly, it made detailed analysis for the logistic planning and establishment of logistic information system, plus the operation model in the section of procurement, storage and delivery etc. At last, it brings out some suggestion for the future development of DTW group (the company author is working for.The paper gives value to providing good reference for the logistics company in China through studying the operation model of third-party logistics. It also contributes to speed up the transform towards integrated logistics aiming at efficiency improvement, cost down and elevated logistic service level.
