Since the 1970s, job characteristics have drawn common concern of scholars in homeand abroad. Job characteristics not only influences employee's job performance, jobsatisfaction and internal work motivation, but also affect the organization efficacy andoverall competitions. The research used authoritative scale to carry on the questionnairesurvey to 179 commercial bank employee, and has carried on the analysis to theinvestigation result. The conclusions of the thesis are:(1) The global level of the Chinese commercial bank employee' job characteristics arelow, and that of skill variety and task identity is lower than the others.(2) The job characteristics of the commercial bank employee are significantlycorrelated with job performance and job satisfaction.(3) The parts dimensions of job characteristics are significantly different bases on thedemographic variables, such as gender, marital status, age.(4) The employees of Chinese commercial bank were differently motivated by fivecore dimensions of job characteristics model.Finally, based on theory study and empirical study, analyze the problem of Chinesecommercial bank employee's job characteristics, and makes suggestion to them. It is hopedthat the thesis will be of use in following aspects: improving the level of job characteristicsin Chinese commercial bank; and perfecting the job characteristics model.
