The business of OEM is developed rapidly in China in recent years and it has also become the main bunisess of many companies in China. Thus, it becomes a great concern of the government, economists and the academic scholars. After these years of rapid development, the cost advantage which the OEM manufacturers in China owned has now appeared to weaken. And the competition from other developing countries also becomes more and more intense. The low profit of OEM business and the dependence on their clients also make it necessary for the OEM manufacturers to transfer to ODM manufacturers or OBM manufacturers. This is also the most critical change from "made in China" to "created in China". Therefore, research on the transformation of OEM manufacturers is very important. However, as the number of OEM manufacturers abroad is not very big, there are few research focused on the OEM manufacturers' transformation. Current research on the OEM manufacturers' transformation in China also lags behind and no mature theroy frame exists.In view of this, this paper mainly discusses the patterns of the OEM manufacturers' transformation and the influencing factors, so as to provide guidance to the practice of the OEM manufacturers' transformation. This paper summarizes the literature before and proposes a model of the patterns of the OEM manufacturers' transformation and the main influencing factors of the patterns as well as several hypotheses. Then a questionnaire-based survey is carried out and SPSS is applied in the process of data analysis to adjust the model and hypotheses.This essay starts with review of abundant literature and existing studies, concluding the theories related to this essay. Then the author proposes a model of the patterns of the OEM manufacturers' transformation and the main influencing factors as well as hypotheses. The author carries out a questionnaire investigation of the OEM manufacturers' transformation and analyzes datas from 145 questionnaires with SPSS.According to the result of investigation and data analysis, several research conclusions have been drawn and research model has been adjusted. It is pointed out that the technological capability, marketing capability, financial capability, technology involvement in products, dependence on the clients, competition and environmental change are the seven main factors which influence the patterns of the OEM manufacturers' transformation; The relationship between these factors and the patterns of the OEM manufacturers' transformation will be interacted by variables which include the enterprise size and OEM type.Based on the theoretical research conclusions and concrete circumstance of OEM manufacturers, advices for their transformation are represented. And the expected future work is depicted at the end of the paper.
