Chongqing City, The County Town Development

County urbanization is a transformation of social and economic structure that usually accompanied by county industrialization and development of the tertiary industry. The county urbanization is mainly reflected by a process in which population, non-agricultural industry, capital, and market move from scattered villages to townships. The county urbanization strategy is necessary for the development and modernization of a county economy and society.Chongqing is an extra city in the area of the upper Yangtze River. Pushing for county urbanization in Chongqing area is important for its economic development and overall social improvement. Based on the common theories of urbanization, this paper defines the connotation of county urbanization and analyzes the main factors affecting the process of county urbanization, and thus provides theoretical support for the development of county urbanization. In addition, the actualities and actual example analysis and measurement study on development of Chongqing county urbanization provide some extent advice and scientific foundation for Chongqing municipality in establishing macroscopic policy which guide the. development of county urbanization.The paper consists of six chapters. In the first chapter it introduces the background and significance of the research topic and summarizes the historical evolution of the urbanization in China and abroad. In the second chapter, it defines the county urbanization from several aspects including concept, territorial difference, character, developmental object and direction. In the third chapter, it describes and analyzes the process of county urbanization in Chongqing area. In the fourth chapter, it elaborates the factors that affect county urbanization in Chongqing area covering the harmonious development of economy and society, agricultural development, industrialization, and institutional barrier of the population movement. In the fifth chapter, it introduces a case study in the county of Xiushan. It first analyzes the realities and problems of the county in urbanization, then explores ways of enhancing the urbanization process, and finally discusses measures and strategies to stimulate the county urbanization in Xiushan. Based on the above analyses, the sixth chapter proposes measures and strategies for the county urbanization in Chongqing area including seven aspects, such as the practice of non-balanced development, promoting strong ruling industries, raising county building funds from many channels.
