With the advancement of science and technology and with the improvement of people's life level, consumer's requirements about product's diversification and individuation are more and more high. Therefore, the product's life cycle is increasingly shortened, and the speed of product's renew is more quickly than before. So people eliminate and abandon more product than before. At the same time, with people strengthen their consciousness of environmental protection and with the environmental protection laws is increasingly perfect, enterprise field have to seriously deal with the problem of how to handle the abandoned products. All these changes have boosted the reverse logistics and aroused extensive interest in the construction of reverse logistics systems.According above-mentioned background, the paper focuses on one of the main aspects in the construction of reverse logistics system: network design and optimization based all world scholar's study about and practices of reverse logistics. Firstly, the article introduces present research concept and composing of reverse logistics and explains the difference and contact between reverse logistics and generic logistics. Based on the links with the forward logistics system, the reverse logistics network is classified into two kinds: the unattached network and the integrated network. Secondly, according to the forenamed classification, the network design is also divided into two instances: the unattached network design and the integrated network design. For each instance, the paper analyzes the main content and the character in the network design and optimization. Based on the analysis, a MILP mathematical model and a case are built. Here are the highlights in the paper: Firstly, compare the reverse logistics and the forward logistics, the unattached reverse logistics and the integrated reverse logistics to summarize the characters in the design and optimization of each kind of reverse logistics network. Secondly, present the model that considers the randomicity of the supply and the demand for the unattached reverse network design and optimization, and convert the stochastic model to a determinate one; in the last, present the model that considers two products and multi-disposal strategies for the integrated reverse network design.
