The purposes of this study include two respects: one is to explore employees' the common career success indicators, the other is to examine whether personality is a predictor of career success. A sample of 411 employees in diverse set of occupations and organizations are surveyed by three questionnaires (the Scale of Career Success Indicators/ the Scale of Career Success and Qingnian Zhongguo Personality Scale -S).The first result show that employees assess their career success by 18 indicators, the five dimensions of career success indicators are job satisfaction/ affirmations from self and others /new advancement in competence /career development/job performance. Hierarchical regression analyses were used to examine the incremental variance contributed by the seven personality traits after controlling for several career-related variables.CT was related positively to career success.SL was related negatively to career success.WX/RG/CG were not predictors of career success,but the correlation indicated that the three traits were significantly positively related to career success.QX /XFwas not related to career success.
