The study of the competency model is one of the critical issues of HRM research now. But the special research on the competency model of information technology staff has not been done. We choose 42 information technology staff, conduct the behavioral event interview with them and establish the competency model of excellent information technology staff.There are 6 chapters in this paper.Chapter one includes the research backgrounds, targets etc.Chapter tow includes the concepts of competency and the competency model.Chapter there describes the research design, including tools of the research ,data collection and sorting, statistic tool, BEI and the analysis of coding result etc.Chapter four includes the establishment of the competency model.Chapter five includes the article basing on X company, research using the competency model in this company.Chapter six describes the reflection and prospect of the competency's research.The following is our main findings:Firstly, the competencies of The article basing on Y company, include: the synthesize ability of research ,the ability of motion, the ability of agility and harmony , the ability of communicate.Secondly, in the establishing of the competency model of technology staff using BEI method.This result can also be used in human resource management ,including recruiting and selecting, performance appraisal and career management..
