Hangzhou Bank Development Strategy

Born in the mid-90s of last century, City Commercial Banks have gained gradual developments after over 10 years of hardships and trails of market economy. Nonetheless, the City Commercial Banks vary widely in development due to their circumstances. At present, China's reform of the financial system is constantly developing in depth. In the context of the shareholding system transformation and listing of state-owned commercial banks, the influx of foreign banks and the accelerative reform of Rural Credit Cooperatives with preferential policies, what bring the competition in China's banking industry to the strategic level are the updating of competitions and the improvement in the quality of the enterprises. It has become an issue of great concern that how to seek a more reasonable market orientation and a more scientific mode of development and how to formulating an appropriate development strategy for the majority of city commercial banks.The article firstly reviewed relevant theories on Strategic Management and market orientation. It then theoretically analyzed the factors affecting the development mode of city commercial banks. On the basis of that, a trend of diversified development on China's city commercial banks was studied and three typical development modes were put forward.Next, taking Bank of Hangzhou as an example, the article studied its development strategy by using relevant theories and methods of Strategic Management. It analyzed the bank of Hangzhou's strategic environment, and scientifically evaluated the impact of changes in the external environment and internal conditions on its development. On this basis, the strategic choice for Bank of Hangzhou was made, business and inter-regional development orientation was identified, and development target was proposed. At last, the implementation of the strategy for Bank of Hangzhou was presented.
