In the10years after the birth of the city commercial banks, after a phase of restructuring,growth and survival of the fittest, they now operate in various cities with different position andstrength. Some city commercial banks do their duty of offering their service to the real economyand residents in the region, and they have formed a certain influence. Some more excellent citycommercial banks began to do cross-regional business. Other excellent ones have finished the A-share listing. The gap between city commercial is widening, and the internal competition is intense.In addition, the city commercial banks are forced to re-examine their status and future as a result ofmany factors including the joint-stock reform of state-owned banks, the expansion of the nationalstrategies of the national joint-stock banks, the liberalization of the domestic policies and thereinforcement of the efficiency and force of credit associations after their reform. The escalatingcompetition has upgraded ordinary inter-bank business competitions to strategic competitions. Ithas become an urgent tast for city commercial banks to find their own positions and decide theirown development strategies.After a review and overview of the strategic development and market positioning theory, theauthor carries out an analysis of the factors which may affect the development strategies andmarket positioning of enterprises. And then, a brief analysis is made on the referential significanceof the development strategies and market positioning of American Community Bank. After acomprehensive analysis of all factors, several development strategies of city commercial banks areprovided.By applying the analytical methods of strategic management and market positioning on theBank of Ningbo, the author aims to arrive at an objective analysis and evaluation of the externalconditions and internal conditions of the Bank of Ningbo, as well as its competitive advantages anddisadvantages. Based on this analysis, an suggestion is made on the development strategies andmarket positioning of the Bank of Ningbo, which may further prvode a basis for the strategies ofthe implementation of the strategies of the Bank of Ningbo.
