Minority Community Participation In Tourism Development

Community Participation is one among many focuses in the research on community tourism. Ethnic minority community tourism has become one of the important subjects of the research on community tourism in recent years, while this kind of research is of theoretical interest and also of great relevance. Based on analyzing the survey and questionnaire in Wulong Autonomous Township of Shizong Country, Qujing City, this paper will analyze the current situation of community participation in minority nationalities' communities and approach how to develop local tourism further and deeper, by connecting with general theories of Community Participation.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part takes concepts of the community ,minority nationality community,community participating. It summarizes current research achievements of community participating tourism development both domestic and abroad, and presents the purpose and method of research;The second part introduces briefly the tourism resources of Wulong Autonomous Township, analyzes the successful experience and problems existing of its tourism development. The author interviewed the community residents of Shuizhai village and made a questionnaire survey on tourists taking part into the Zhuang Jia Le on the topic of minority community participation in tourism development;The third part carries out SWOT method to analyze local minority nationalities'community participation in tourism development of Wulong Autonomous Township and agrees on the developing value of minority nationalities'community tourism;The fourth part discusses the necessity, concepts and principles of community participation in tourism development of Wulong Autonomous Township. Also, this part discusses the ideal model of this township during operating and managing processes from the perspective of building it into both scenic spot and community;The fifth part analyzes the interests protecting measures of minority community participation in tourism development of Wulong Autonomous Township by applying Stakeholder Theory. Meanwhile, this part proposes the strategy and countermeasure of Wulong Autonomous community participation in tourism development.
