A Study On Community Participation In Tourism Development Of Minority Community

As a burgeoning industry, which can promote local economy, tourism has gained much attention from state to local governments in China in recent years. The tourism development promotes economic and society development rapidly in tourism destination, while the community residents passively assume much negative effect aroused by tourism. The development of tourism destination must rely on community. and it may not have new breakthroughs unless takes the community into account, harmonizes the relationships between community and tourism development. Then the main goal will achieve that it will bring generous economic and society values by tourism development on the prerequisite of cultural conservation.On the basis of data study and questionnaires analysis of Matisi tourist district with surrounding residents the thesis analyzes the community participation actualities from angles of recognition of tourism resources, participation consciousness, the participation in tourism planning, in tourism management, in tourism income, in tourism propaganda and training etc. We found that the littoral cultural tourism resources of Matisi Temple are very rich, but the local government, management departments of scenic area and tourism development departments ignores the participation of community. The participation is on an elementary state, there is a lack of the participation way, the participation degree is shallow and the content is narrow.The ideology of research is based on a logical hypothesis: minority nationality tourist destination used to belong to traditional agriculture area. With development of tourism, such an area is on its way to opening. Industry substitution and economy transformation disturb the peace of this region.On the prerequisite of tourism sustainable development, this thesis classifies the community residents, and analyzes the different tourism perceptions of different categories mainly from the angle of demo logy characteristics. We found that the residents have a rational supporting attitude toward tourism development; there are no obvious cautious supporters and neutrals yet but lovers and ambivalent supporters as the main stream..On the basis of former study of this thesis, we form a mode and a mechanism frame of community participation. We hope this mode and mechanism frame can be introduced into ecotourism development of minority community in Gansu province. We also hope that it will provide references so as to realize society, economic and environmental benefits of different tourism destinations.
