Burma, Yunnan And Vietnam Since The Reform And Opening Up A Comparative Study Of The Economic And Trade Relations

Yunnan province has have the great opportunity of building one of the Chinese important bridgehead which opens up to the southwest, from now on Yunnan`opening will have strong policy backing from the central government. Myanmar and Vietnam are the most important countries to Yunnan to cooperate with investment, technique and trade, and have the special geographic location to the bridgehead building. So, inevitable outcome is to keep on studying on Yunnan- Myanmar ` and Yunnan-Vietnam` relationship of economy and trade during the period of Chinese new opening strategy.Both Yunnan- Myanmar and Yunnan-Vietnam have very long trade relationship. The economy and trade cooperation between Yunnan and Myanmar have come into the quick development period in the 21st century, so have the cooperation between Yunnan and Vietnam. Recent years, Myanmar and Vietnam have become the No.1 and No.2 trade partners to Yunnan Province. On one side, Myanmar and Vietnam have many similarities in geographic location, trade history, bilateral relationship, natural resources and economic development to Yunnan. On the other side, there are many different features and problems in the Yunnan-Myanmar and Yunnan-Vietnam cooperation of economy and trade,as well as some different opportunities and challenges.Firstly this thesis tries to find out those features and problems, and then the causes, on the base of the history of Yunnan-Myanmar and Yunnan-Vietnam cooperation of economy and trade.Secondly, the thesis compares the advantages and disadvantages in the Yunnan-Myanmar and Yunnan-Vietnam cooperation of economy and trade, and then, analyses the cooperation potential of the Yunnan-Myanmar and Yunnan-Vietnam cooperation of economy and trade.Thirdly, the process of regional integration has accelerated now, both the Yunnan-Myanmar and Yunnan-Vietnam cooperation of economy and trade face to many opportunities and challenges. With the construction of Sino-Myanmar oil and gas line, and with the bridgehead strategy of Yunnan Province came out, there are much more opportunities and challenges which Yunnan-Myanmar cooperation of economy and trade will face to than those which Yunnan-Vietnam cooperation will. The status of Myanmar will be the most important than the countries near by Yunnan, include Vietnam. Although the Yunnan-Vietnam trade cooperation will catch or even beat the Yunnan-Myanmar trade cooperation, the Yunnan-Myanmar cooperation of economy and trade will still be the most important part to Yunnan province` opening.For those reasons, the forth chapter gives the advices of what reactions the Chinese central government,Yunnan province government and companies need do.
