In this thesis, the chemical constituents of the active fraction of Ixeris sonchifolia (Bge.) Hance for treating cerebrovascular and cardiovascular disease were studied.13 Compounds were isolated from the active fraction of Ixeris sonchifolia(Bge.) Hance with Macroporous resins (D101), silica gel, sephadex LH-20, etc. On the basis of analysis of UV, IR, NMR, MS data and measuring of physico-chemical characters, the structures of the 13 compounds were elucidated as 3-hydroxy-1 (10). 4-germacradiene-12, 6-olide (I), 8-desoxyartelin (II), ixerin Z (III), 11,13a-dihydroixerinZ (IV), ixerin Z1 (V), luteolin (VI), luteolin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (VII), luteolin-7-Ogentibioside (VIII), quercetin (IX), rutin (X), β-sitosterol(XI), daucosterol (XII), oleanolic acid (XIII).Of all these compounds, compound I was isolated for the first time from Ixeris genus. The assignment of some carbon signals of compound II and III were corrected by 2D NMR spectra.
