Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) is a very complicatedsystem. There are still many constituents indefinable. However, with therapid development of modem hyphenated instruments and relatedchemometric methods, the analysis of TCM system and quality control inTCM become feasible. And the fingerprint technique would be thepractical and feasible mode to maintain the stability of the product qualityand could distinguish the authenticity of TCM. This research depends onthe application of chemometric methods to analyse the real Glyrrhizasystem. In the first chapter of this thesis, the relating concept, application ofTCM analysis, the methods of chromatographic fingerprints aresummarized. And the application of chemometric methods in TCMquality control is also concluded. In chapter 2 and chapter 3, researches about the preparative methodof the sample and optimization of the chromatographic conditions for thevolatile constituent and non- volatile constituent were done separatelybased on the actual condition. And the methodological evaluation provedthis method reliable, which provides a reference for the chromatographiccondition of TCM. The quality of Glyrrhiza from different places wasinvestigated on this chromatographic condition, and the fingerprints ofGC and HPLC of the medicinal materials were established. The datapre-treatment is applied to comparied the Glyrrhiza of different places, then used to distinguish the quality and the authenticity of TCM. Inchapter 4, with the help of heuristic evolving latent projections (HELP)resolution upon the two-dimension data generated by hyphenatedinstruments, chromatographic curve of every pure ingredient wasobtained. And the quantitative analysis was done by total volumeintegration. In chapter 5, based on the two-dimensional spectrochromatographicinformation obtained from HPLC-DAD, the qinggan injection sample andits one involved single medicine-Glyrrhiza were compared on the someconditions, which can provides a academic basis for the study of theirrelevant constituents. Also, it provides a rapid method for the research of the complex medicines' quality control.
