With the deepening of China's opening up, and the frequent exchanges of economic and cultural between countries, the film, as a direct and effective cross-cultural approach which has wide influence deeply attracts people' attention. Enjoying movies is an indispensable part in today's modern life. As a powerful communication tool, the film affects our life more and more, which can be seen from the growing influx of foreign films and the consequent large number of translation work. A large number of foreign films come into China that provides convenient conditions for us to get information and learn foreign languages. Movies translation is the base of enjoying foreign films for non-native language audience, and the indispensable cultural forms of modern society. The collision between China's huge translation market and the embarrassing film translation urgently needs people to confront the role of films translation. Subtitles responsible for the dissemination of information on the function of television drama, translation will affect the value of the film, so the subtitle translation is the foundation and core for the film translation, became "more and more important in the translation field" (Qian Shaochang, 2000)In Europe, a large number of scholars have written many works of subtitle translation, did qualitative analysis and classification from the height of his theory. Compared with Europe, China's subtitle translation still has many deficiencies, such as imperfect of translation theory, and the actual quality of the translation subtitles are still to be improved and so on. China's huge market and the embarrassing situation of subtitle translation need us to to face squarely the subtitle translation. Skopostheory rose in Germany in the seventies of the twentieth century, The emergence of it has opened up a new way for translation study-to study translation from the purposes of translation perspective.Although this theory has some flaws, it also plays an important role in promoting the development of translation theory. This article attempts to use the most classic example of "Gone with the Wind"----CCTV version of Gone with the Wind to analyze film subtitling from the perspective of purpose and also tries to study the theory of subtitle translation from theory to practice.I hope to bring some inspiration for subtitle translation research, provide specific guide for film subtitling and translate high-quality films. This article is divided into six parts, the first part is introduction, which introduces reasons of the thesis, significance of the thesis, research status, research ideas and the framework. The second part is the review of subtitle translation, researching the definition, characteristics, classification and limitations of subtitle translation. The third part is the theoretical framework, briefly introducing Skopostheorie, its purpose and factors influencing the subtitle translation. The forth part briefly describes the "Gone with the Wind" and points out translation principle. The fifth part, for the CCTV version of "Gone with the Wind", analyzes the specific translation strategies in detail:simply, naturalize, generalize, clarify, and transliterate. The sixth part is summary, giving the conclusion and pointing out the inadequacies of this article and the improvements.
