In the 20th century, the painting language of chinese painting was developing hard under the conflict and amalgamation between the home language and the foreign language. During the first half of 20th century, the modern chinese painting language experienced several periods as absorption, transformation and setting its own characteristics. So how can the chinese traditional painting be developed and modernized under the impact of foreign painting culture? And how is the impact is inherited and developed in the chinese paintings? These questions become the key focuses that everyone who wants to learn chinese paintings has to face. Among these people, Zhou Sicong is an outstanding representative who wants to discover the development of chinese paintings. As the chinese modern un-substituted female artist with significant art contribution and brilliant drawing characters, she devoted her whole life to the chinese painting art. Taking the female painter Zhou Sicong as the research case, from the insight of a female, her chinese painting language is studied in this thesis from the aspects of her life, her products and the social environment. It is also considered that how she broke up on her art road under the conflict between the home and the foreign language. From her paintings, we learn how to build our own painting language.The thesis is organized as follows. Firstly, Zhou Sicong's true painting language is dig out and it is explained that how this painting language is formed in her practice. Secondly, Zhou Sicong was born at the beginning of the 20th century, when the chinese painting language was being transformed to the modernity. In the transformation, she developed her own painting language and made her products timely and innovative. She was famous in the field of chinese painting in the 20th century. We can obtain illumination of thought, wisdom and emotion from her products. And her design techniques and personal characters can also be used for reference. From the research on her painting style, we can better understand the modernization way of chinese traditional painting which is effected by the foreign painting. And it also provides a way of inheriting her painting style. Thirdly, through the analysis of her painting language, we suggest that the female artists'personal art practice should be emphasized. The female character of female art and its impact on modern paintings should take our attention. At last, from Zhou Sicong's paintings and her language style, the transformation features, laws and instincts of chinese painting can be discovered which gives us an inspiration to built the chinese painting language.
