Under the background of globalization and knowledge economy, both the mainland china and Hong Kong launched the reform of elementary education curriculum in the beginning of the 21st Century in order to meet the requirement of the social development. They also published new document about music course named and respectively, which turned out to be the guidance for the elementary music education in the mainland china and Hong Kong at that time. The two standards (the curriculum guide) indicate the new concept of the value of the music courses as well as the theory of music education in trend of world education curriculum reform of the mainland china and HONG KONG. Thus comparing and looking into the two standards (the curriculum guide) is for better understanding the situation of music course development in both places, also for further communication and development of the music education field. Therefore, to provide references for future reform of elementary music education curriculum for the two places.This thesis is to research on and , aiming to find out both similarities and differences through comparing and analyzing these two standards from simple to complex. In addition, to find out the feature from the development of the mainland china and HK's elementary music courses, inspired from which, to give own opinion on the problems to be noted so that the two places can be both benefited and provide each other the great ideas and methodologies of education reform in the near future.This thesis is divided into three parts:The first part mainly introduces the academic background, objectives, ideas and ranges of this research. Including which, the academic background contains the important role of curriculum standards play in the curriculum reform as well as the introduction of its functional change. Besides, it also shows the latest curriculum standards formed in all the other countries'reform.The second part as the main part of the thesis has made the comparison of the similarity and differences of the curriculum objectives, curriculum content standards, implemented strategies and course evaluation. Thus, make the general analysis on the result of the comparison in order to find out the further reason which has caused the differences and similarities.The third part is the conclusion of this thesis, this section mainly on the mainland china and Hong Kong before the curriculum standards(the curriculum guide)in all aspects of the comparison results are analyzed and summarized to conclude that the two music curriculum standards(the curriculum guide)are reflected Construction. And through this thesis to the mainland china and Hong Kong in the coming of new curriculum reform to achieve greater development in providing a lot more to learn about from each other.
