Research Breakthrough Development Path Of China's Private Film Industry

Through analyzing the rise of Huayi Bros. Media Group, this research discusses the breakthrough development path of Chinese private film industry. First of all, it reviews the overall development background of private film industry to explore the constraints which cause the predicament of private film companies like Huayi. The three constraints are:nonsupport policy, inadequate resources and nonstandard market. Facing these unfavorable factors, Huayi creates the new institution by positioning the "Big Media" and creating the industrial operation system. And then, Huayi breaks through these constraints by the implementation of resource acquisition strategy and capacity building strategy. This provides private film industry a referential development path.At the same time, there are also some points to consider based on the Huayi experience and the problems of private film industries. First, to explore the policy outlet, on the one hand, this research discusses the relationship between policy and the development of private film industry by New Institutional Economics. On the other hand, it provides possible directions for private enterprises to seek support from government by Regulation Economics. Second, to the problem of how to regulate the market, this research suggests that the private film industry need to strengthen self-discipline, improve competition system and enhance the abilities to control the market and allocate resource. Third, to the problem of how to achieve sustainable development, this research states that a talents cultivation and selection system should be built up. And diversity of film types should base on more supporting policies and innovation mechanism.
