Ancient books recorded that their languages contact between Vietnam and China began from the 2th and 3rd century BC. Since then, the two languages had already 2000 years of contact until the middle of the 19th century. It was a process that took a long period. Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary and Sino-Vietnamese pronunciation system are the results of contact of Chinese and Vietnamese. Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary influences almost all fields of the society in Vietnam.There is approximately 60 percent of Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary in modern Vietnamese,and most of them are two syllable Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary. Over a thousand years, Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary has grown and perfected continuously. Sino-Vietnamese and Chinese vocabulary have the same or similar features, but also differences.
