Shang Transportation To Explore

Based on the data of archaeology, inscriptions on bones and document, this paper mainly discusses the traffic in Shang Dynasty. There are four parts in this paper. In the first part, the paper gives a introduction to the traffic geographical concepts, such as the understanding of the terrain and the landforms, the location. It also points out that the location (also the sense of orientation) embodies the regional nature of political ruling in Shang Dynasty. The second part mainly discusses the means of transportation in Shang Dynasty, including the carts, the tamed animals(horse and elephant) and the boat. In the third part, the paper analysis the road distribution in different ruling areas, on which base the road traffic network is formed. The forth part mainly discusses the traffic system in Shang Dynasty such as the fortified point built along the road, the posthuose and the dak system. The emphasis of the paper in the second and third parts.
