S-P predicate sentence in modem Chinese is a sentence pattern in which a subject-predicate phrase serves as predicate. The construction of S-P predicate sentence demonstrates that modem Chinese differs from Jndo-European language in combination. Many people have composed articles on this sentence pattern. However, the range of S-P predicate sentence has been debated. The systematic study of its subordinate structure is seldom made. On the basis of ample description, the thesis attempts to reveal the syntactic and semantic features of subordinate structures of S-P predicate sentences as well as their relationship with relative forms. It is designed to provide S-P predicate sentences with description and explanation in accordance with language. The following is a brief outline of what is concerned about the thesis: 1. Grounded on classification, all types of subordinate structures of S-P predicate sentences are described from the perspective of syntactic and semantic features; 2. The transformation analysis is employed to probe into the relationship between S-P predicate sentences with their relative forms~ 3. The discussion is concerned with theories relevant to S-P predicate sentence.
