Female Survival And Development In The Late Qing Dynasty Literary Imagination - Four Novel Periodicals

The purpose of this thesis is to collect female texts from four journals of the Late Ching dynasty, analyze female's subsistence and developmental condition, and reexamine the imaginations and the expressions concerning the female of the novels in the social transform period.The first part mainly describes the female's universal subsistence, reveals the discriminations and the contempt when they are in the family life, contacting opposite sex and in the social mental pattern of the Late Ching dynasty, and gives prominence to the urgency and arduousness of the female liberation.The second part summarizes the new female imageries, new characters and old female endowed new connotations. It stands out the major orientation of the female problem.The third part contrasts the different starting points and the emphatic aspects of the both sexes thinking the female problem.The last part analyzes the male authors who are the most principal part of the novels' writers have the limitations when they consider themselves to be the female's mentors and spokespersons.
