From 1937 to 1941, many territories of the China mainland were under the seizure of Japanese invading troops. But Hongkong before December, 1941 was like a Xanadu, an idyllic, beautiful place to live in, because it had not been seriously influenced by the flares of war. It maintained the facade of peace and stableness. In fact, Hongkong during this special period did not isolate from China mainland, whereas, it kept a close relationship with China mainland. Hongkong played a special role in the Anti-Japanese War.During this period, Hongkong had a loose political environment because the Hongkong government held a neutral attitude toward the War. What's more, Hongkong's special geographical location provides a premise for the imporant of Hongkong played in this War.The special role of HongKong embody: Hongkong is the only channel for the external links of mainland economy; Many national enterprises, at that time, had survived by moving themselves to Hongkong; The fact that a lot of refugees from mainland stayed in Hongkong; Various anti-Japanese campaigns held in Hongkong, whose purpose is to save the nation from extinction, supported the Anti-Japanese War both physically and spiritually; In addition, many important politicians from mainland went to Hongkong to organize all kinds of political activities concerned with this War,Which made Hongkong the overseas political center, All of these facts mentioned above supports Chinese's Anti-Japanese War, Which is one of the main reasons that Japan decided to seize Hongkong. And the seizure of Hongkong lasted more than three years. The support from Hongkong made a great contribution to the victory of Anti-Japanese War.
