By middle ancient times, Mandarin Degree Adverbs had formd a basically complete system. The thesis, according to their semantic difference, classified them into seven groups, namely, Zui()Ji(极)Shen(甚)Guo(过),Wei(微),Geng(更)and Jian(渐),and probed into their general features. Mandarin Degree Adverbs in middle ancient times were simple in syntactic function and fixed in position. They could modify adjectives and verbs only; they could not modify nouns; most of them were used as adverbials and complements; their semantic Orientation were clear: the groups of Ji(极) Shen(甚),Guo(过) jian() aimed at center words while the groups of Zui(最),Geng(更),Wei(微) were mainly related to the comparing and compared items besides aiming at center words. Also this thesis described the development of Mandarin Degree Adverbs in middle ancient times; at the same time ,it researched textually the newly-born Mandarin Degree Adverbs in middle ancient times, namely, Ku(酷),Shang(伤),Feichang() and Gengjia(更加); and analyzed the semantic basis and grammatical environment of their coming into being.
