| Communication is a bottleneck of economic development, and that communication is developed in first place is demanded by economic developing law. As the most important cradle of Chinese civilization, owing to the underdeveloped communication, the economy of Northwest China is developed slowly in modern times. Therefore, the five provinces in Northwest China, such as Shannxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai, and Xinjiang, all rich in many natural resource, had been not open and poor for a long time, also lag behind the littoral Southeast China. Means of communication of the Northwest had been constructed on a large scale since the 1920's.During the period from 1931 to 1937, with the Japanese aggression aggravating, developing the Northwest appealed by our people, and in order to adapt to national defence, the national government had had to take more attention to the Northwest. And the communication had gained some progress.During the Anti-Japanese War (1937-1945), the Northwest's strategic significance emerged clearer and clearer. It became a base area to against Japanese with the Southwest, and afforded the national government much more supports. Meanwhile, the economy and communication of the Northwest had had huge progress since modern times. As the hatcher and organizer of this development, considering political and military benefits, all kinds of communications of the Northwest were strengthened by the national government and stimulated the modern economy of the Northwest.I just collected and consulted a great deal of information and researched carefully into this subject that the national government had developed various communications from 1931 to 1945.
