There are many facts that affect a writer, besides the extrinsic culture, the native culture is obviously deep-rooted. This essay will explore the effect of Chinese classic literature to Bai Xianyong's novel from the aspect of Chinese classic poetry and Ci.The distinguishing features of Chinese poetry are lyrics and symbol. Even few words can grab a phrase, a detail and gives the essence of literature. One's once feeling often integrates his past and future, mirrors his lively change. The "expressing big with small", that is, enriching time and space, brings Chinese ancient poetry unexpected stirring force. Bai Xianyong is the writer who is skilled at seizing one's instant feeling and entrusting it important meaning. The rich images, jumping time and space, punning language, alterative lyrics and atmosphere in his novel are permeated with Chinese classic poetry.One characteristic of Chinese culture is to mourn the rise and fall of history. "Man's fate" always relates with "historic fate". A great many of Bai Xianyong's novels can be essentially called as recalling poems. The characters in his novels share the same fate with the entire history, therefore, his writings show history and time-weather. In this essay, the author picks some writings of those who have some similar genealogy and background with Bai Xianyong such as Du Fu, Li Yu and some writers from late Tang and South Song Dynasty trying to explore the echo and inheritance in these writings.
