Pai Hsien-yung is an important writer in world Chinese literature,whose works represent the highest achievements of Taiwan novel in the 1960 s and 1970 s.In 1979,his work made its way into mainland China,which broke the “literature isolation”between the mainland and Taiwan.From then on,Pai has offered a window to mainland readers to learn about Taiwan and his work also has become the bridge to Taiwan social reality.Above all,his strong sentiment for the mainland displayed in his works has made him become one of the most highly stressed writers among mainland scholars.At present,the research on Pai and his work has evolved to an exceptionally mature point as well as a bottleneck for lack of creation and originality.The following paper,from the perspective of literature communication,explores spreading effects,characteristics and significance of Pai's work in mainland on the basis of summary of the spreading condition of Pai's work and previous research to be listed as another important research paper.The paper consists of five parts:?.Introduction: background information,research purpose and significance,literature review,research contents and methods.?.Data collection: spreading condition of Pai's works,including his books and adaptations as broadcast novels,films,TV series and stage plays and its major research achievements ?.Cause analysis: internal causes –the charm of his work and himself;external ones-communication environment.?.Major part: spreading effects,characteristics and significances of Pai's work in mainland China.?.Conclusion: affirming significance of Pai's work,statement of research orientation and prospect,expectation of further research and insights to arouse the concern on literature communication.
