A Study On The Han Tombs In Liaohai Area

Abstract/Summary:
Liaohai Area is a cultural geographical region,it generally refers to the middle and lower reaches of the Liaohe River,the Liaodong Peninsula,the northwest coast of the Liaodong Bay and the Ling River basin flowing into the Liaodong Bay,which is roughly within the reach of today’s Liaoning Province.Yan’s system was continued through the Han Dynasty,Liaodong County and Liaoxi County were set up in Liaohai area,so that Liaohai area was fully integrated into the cultural system of the Central Plains region.The emergence of a large number of Han tombs was an important symbol of the formation of its cultural pattern.By exploring the formation and development process of the common features of Han tombs in this region,and the cultural exchange with Han tombs in the surrounding areas and internal cultural differences,we can supplement the inadequacies of the literature records,yet provide clues to study the governance of the Han Dynasty in Liaohai area,the local economic of Han Dynasty,and the social historical issues.Based on the typological analysis and periodization study of tombs,this paper analyzes the formation and development of common characteristics of Han tombs in Liaohai area,and probes into the cultural exchange and regional cultural differences with Han tombs in surrounding areas.It also tries to deeply discuss the governance of the Han Dynasty to the northeast frontier,the internal residents composition and population migration in the Liaohai area and other social and historical issues.There are six chapters in this paper.Chapter One is the introduction.First of all,it combs a brief history of the discovery and research of Han tombs in Liaohai area,then summarizes the achievements and shortcomings of the existing research.Which it is pointed out that there are full conditions to make a more comprehensive and further holistic study of Han tombs in Liaohai area.Then put forward the research purpose and research ideas of this paper.Chapter Two is the typological analysis of the tomb and the pottery.Detailed typology analysis of the form of the tombs and 18 typical types of pottery in Liaohai area are made,the number of objects at all levels are counted,and the obvious evolution relationship among the tombs and the pottery are analyzed.Chapter Three is about periodization.Based on the typological analysis,the Han tombs in Liaohai area are divided into six periods,which covers the early Western Han Dynasty to the Late Eastern Han Dynasty and the Gongsun’s regime.Then the number of tombs,the forms of tombs,the types and combinations of pottery are analyzed,and the six periods were reorganize into three bigger stages,and each stages has a summary.Compared with the Central Plains area,the development of Han tombs in Liaohai area is obviously lagging behind.Chapter Four is the analysis of cultural factors.There are four kinds of cultural factors in this area,including Yan cultural factors left over from the late warring States period,cultural factors of Han Dynasty in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,cultural factors of Han Dynasty in Shandong Province,and the unique cultural factors of Han Culture in Liaohai area.Then summarizes the composition of cultural factors of each period,and analyzes the dynamic development of cultural factors of Han tombs in Liaohai area during the Han Dynasty.Chapter Five is the division research.Liaohai area can be divided into three regions: Western Liaoning Hills,Liaodong Peninsula and Liaohe Plain.The differences between number of tombs,the duration,the major or unique types of tombs and pottery,the cultural factor compositions,and the evolution relation of each region were discussed soon afterwards.According to the differences in each region,the Liaodong Peninsula is divided into three subregions: Dalian,Yingkou and Jinzhou,and the Liaohe Plain is divided into three subregions: Anshan,Liaoyang and Shenyang.They both have differences and interactions,and historical causes.The cultural exchange between Liaohai area and Shandong area is a folk cultural exchange which is not influenced by political factors,while the connection with Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei region is the cultural dissemination caused by organized large-scale migration.The Liaoyang and Dalian subregions are the two central areas in Liaohai area,which as well the political center and economic center,the influence modes of the two subregions on the surrounding areas are different.Chapter Six is the conclusion.On the basis of the above research,this part sum up the main harvest and the shortcomings of this paper.
